Although the philatelic market is expanding, there are fewer stamp shops - forced out by business costs - and besides, the internet is now part of the equation. Collectors are having to comb wider for that elusive item which you tend now to see only at auction.

Condition though is everything. Two same rare stamps can have as much as 75% difference in value, because of the condition. I travel throughout Britain to secure quality material on behalf of discerning clients, people worldwide who take stamps seriously - and I never bid for anything I haven’t inspected. And I’m looking with over 30 years experience.

We have many clients who can testify to the benefits of this unique service. Of course such a service does require a fee. Yes, you could bid yourself, but factor in your travel and accommodation costs - London auctions are often over two days.

You tell us your offer price and if your bid is successful you pay the auction house direct, they dispatch the goods direct. I charge I think a modest commission of 10% on the hammer price.

If the bid is unsuccessful - many items go for considerably more than the catalogue estimate - don’t worry, there is no cost to you : we bear all the expenses.
